Dr. Scott Fowler
Pastor
Scott was born in Memphis, Tennessee and moved to Alabama when he was eight years old. Raised in the Indian Springs area, he and his family were members of the New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where his mother still attends. Scott graduated in the second class of Pelham’s new high school, and then went on to Jacksonville State University to pursue a degree in forestry. While there plans changed as Scott felt the call to be a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ and just a few months later sensed God calling him into the ministry.
Following the path to ministry in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Scott came under the care of the Committee on Ministry of the old Birmingham Presbytery and transferred to Bethel University. There he met several lifelong friends, learned a lot about ministry and life, and even learned some things attending classes! He got to participate in an overseas mission trip in his junior year to Papua, New Guinea. After graduation Scott went on to Memphis Theological Seminary, where he earned the Master of Divinity degree. While in Memphis, Scott met his bride-to-be at a local church’s singles fellowship. Scott and Linda have been married more than 30 years and have a rather large tribe of great kids; Hannah, Joshua, Rebekah, Sarah, Jonathan, Elizabeth, and Daniel, some of whom are married.
After pastoring three churches, one in Tennessee, in Alabama, and then Arizona, Scott came back to Alabama in the fall of 1996 to pastor Spring Creek Church! Early in his ministry at Spring Creek, Scott took advantage of the close proximity of Beeson Divinity School where he enjoyed immensely the teaching while earning the Doctor of Ministry degree. It is his joy and honor to pastor those he considers to be some of the finest people in the whole world! His love is to spend time with the Lord, his family, church family and friends. A challenging and inspiring passage of scripture for Scott has served him well over the years and today is just as powerful:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Proverbs 3:5,6
