“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'”
Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)
At Spring Creek we take these words of our Savior to heart and are actively going and serving where God calls us. Many have been called to reach out and serve by working locally at a crisis pregnancy resource center to help prevent abortions, with building a home for a large family with special needs kids, sharing the gospel and reading the Bible with international college students, ministering and working at a children’s home and in neighborhoods in Guatemala, working to provide water for people in Africa, providing medical care in a Syrian refuge camp in Iraq, Honduras, Hawaii and in remote South Sea Islands, helping in restoration of a castle in Scotland to convert it to a shelter for women and children, led Vacation Bible Schools in several communities in the region and much more. We also give ongoing support to missionaries in several countries such as Papua, New Guinea, Brazil, Guatemala, Colombia, Haiti, India and other regions. Many also reach out to help people in their own neighborhoods, schools, etc. all to share the good news of Salvation through Jesus Christ and to help to meet whatever physical, emotional or spiritual needs they may have. There are opportunities to serve the Lord in faraway countries or right here in our own community. In fact, most recently we have had groups partner with Friends in Mission ministry with other Cumberland Presbyterians in helping with construction work for those affected by floods in Tennessee and tornadoes in Mississippi and Alabama, as well as hurricane damage in Mobile and Florida. Whether you are called to physically go and serve or are called to pray for needs or help provide financial support; allow God to show you how He would have you to carry out the Great Commission given to us in Matthew 28:18-20.
